Montepulciano stands right at the point where the Val D'Orcia and the Val di Chiana meet. It's a city rich in artistic treasures: just outside the historic center, the San Biagio Temple is certainly worth a visit. Also worth seeing are the Duomo and the Palazzo Comunale in Piazza Grande.
This is the homeland of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, a high quality wine among the oldest in Italy. Other labels promoted and protected by the Vino Nobile wine consortium are the Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, a red, and the Vinsanto di Montepulciano DOC.
