The Tenuta Ammiraglia estate is located in the heart of the Maremma. Designed by architects Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenon, it is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape and nature.

Tenuta Ammiraglia is representative of a contemporary and more Mediterranean Tuscany that faces the sea, seeking new horizons. Frescobaldi believes in the great potential of these lands, embraced by the sun and softened by the sea breeze, whose wines are distinguished by their freshness, their minerality and the richness of their fruit.

The modern lines of Ammiraglia cellar, designed by architects Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenono, recall the bow of a ship pointing towards the sea, searching for new horizons to be discovered. Perfectly integrated between the hills and covered with greenery and arboreal plants, the estate combines the most recent technological innovations with respect for the surrounding land and nature.

"A strip of land has been raised to reveal a thin and slender slit in the natural slope of the ground. I believe that the solution we have found is unique: not a cellar, but a large south-facing gull wing, which enjoys a very particular microclimate due to the proximity of the sea. I myself did not think it was possible to build a completely open wine cellar."

"The winery is, first and foremost, a workplace where numerous steps in the winemaking process take place. When this happens in a pleasant and efficient environment, we obtain a doubly positive result: those who work there do so more willingly and produce better wine. Recently, a number of wine producers have built cellars dug very deeply underground, where temperatures are more easily controlled. We discussed this with our oenologist Nicolò d'Afflitto before beginning work on the Ammiraglia project. However, we concluded that at the end of each production cycle, the wine would need to be pumped back up to the surface with expenditure of energy and loss of quality. Our decision to have a single-storey winery, where the grapes come from above, moved by the force of gravity, has provided for qualitative as well as environmental solutions. It is important to communicate to our visitors the pragmatism that arises from such attention to detail and the thinking that inspired us: the use of the best possible techniques, without excesses, with the sole aim of achieving the highest quality. Those who visit the Ammiraglia estate today are struck both by the beauty and the essential nature of the place."

Wines

The Tenuta Ammiraglia estate produces lively and elegant wines that are strongly influenced by the sea. Alìe Rosé is a refined blend balancing Syrah and Vermentino grapes, which find their maximum expression in proximity to the sea. Massovivo Toscana IGT, a pure Vermentino, is fresh and mineral. Terre More Maremma Toscana Cabernet DOC is defined by its modern taste and strong ties to its territory. Finally, Aurea Gran Rosé Toscana IGT, the iconic wine of the estate, is already considered a new and alluring chapter in the history of great Italian wines.

Alìe Rosé
Alìe, is a figure from Greek mythology, one of the sea nymphs and a symbol of sensuality and beauty. Alìe is an elegant Rosé with a light, pure colour and soft ruby highlights. This refined balance between Syrah and Vermentino grapes, which find their maximum expression in proximity to the sea, presents aromas of white flowers, wild strawberries and citrus peels. The bouquet comes together in a delicate structure with the typical minerality of these lands before giving way to a rich and persistent finish. An alluring wine to be enjoyed in good company, from aperitifs to meals.

Massovivo Toscana IGT
Cyclopean yellow stones characterise the territory of Tenuta Ammiraglia, and are known, because of the way they rise from the earth, as living boulders, or ‘massi vivi’ in Italian. Masso Vivo is the name of this beautiful straw-colour Vermentino, which surprises with its floral and candied fruit notes and its intriguing minerality typical of the area.

Terre More Toscana Cabernet DOC
Terre More is a skilful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with small quantities of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah. Intense and elegant, it is characterised by its contemporary taste without losing its ties with the lands it represents.

Aurea Gran Rosé Toscana IGT
Aurea Gran Rosé, a fascinating rosé, is the fruit of the wise marriage between Syrah and Vermentino. Of a rare elegance, it reflects the complexity of the estate’s terroir in the heart of the Maremma. A grand wine that exemplifies a continuous search for excellence: from the loving work in the vineyards to the manual harvesting carried out at the first light of dawn, which is entrusted exclusively to the careful hands of a team of women. A search that continues in the winery, from the soft pressing carried out at low temperatures, to the careful selection of musts and the fermentation in French oak tonneux. The final touch? A dash of barrel-aged white Syrah "vin di reserve”.
